The Lady’s in Love With You: Maxine Sullivan Sings the Music of Burton Lane

Maxine Sullivan has a place in the jazz of fame. She had a long career, interrupted by years bringing up a daughter. Sullivan won fame in 1937 with her swing version of “Loch Lomond” and was still performing and recording until shortly before her death in 1987. The Lady’s in Love with You... (1985) was the second of three songbook albums she recorded for producers Bill Rudman and Ken Bloom -- all with arrangements and musical direction by pianist Keith Ingham and available on the Harbinger label.

Composer Burton Lane was involved in the creation of the album, which includes such standards as “How Are Things in Glocca Morra?,” “I Hear Music,” “Too Late Now” and the title track.
