Sylvia McNair: Subject to Change

And change she has! Sylvia McNair is a crossover artist and soulful soprano who moved gracefully from opera to American popular song, which she describes as “why I’m here.” Her two CD collaborations with Andre Previn (wearing his jazz pianist’s hat)—one celebrating Jerome Kern, the other Harold Arlen—are treasurable. This program includes a mix of contemporary songs and beloved standards such as “Summertime,” “The More I See You” and a heart-stopping medley from West Side Story. Performed before a live audience.
